HoCo school students requirement for parking pass
Remember Scared Straight? Well Howard County is trying to “drive” some sense into HoCo high school students who may not take driving safety seriously. This startling statistic raises concerns about teenage driving in Howard County. Teenage drunk driving arrests in Howard County nearly doubled from 2008 to 2009.

In 2005, Howard County public schools began partnering with the county health department and police to create an event intended to remind local teenagers about the risks of reckless driving — not just drinking and driving but other dangers and distractions such as speeding and cell phones.
As a result, students who want a school parking permit are now required to attend a 40-minute presentation with a parent or guardian.
